Redefining Children’s Ministry
Our Children Were Made for Signs & Wonders! Children often make a decision to leave the church when they are as young as ten to twelve years old because they find our Sunday Schools boring. By the age of thirteen, many feel they know everything there is to know about the Bible and God and feel no further need of attending church. Could this be because we have underestimated their spiritual potential and have been content to feed them a repetitive diet of basic Bible stories over and over again?
It’s time the collective body of Christ re-evaluate and redefine what valid disciple-making, equipping children’s ministry really is. If we never teach them the deep truths of God’s Word and never give them opportunities to encounter God’s presence, we are giving them head knowledge with no heart knowledge. We are giving them religion without relationship. It leaves them empty and still searching.
We must understand it’s imperative that we equip the little saints for the work of the ministry, and train their hands for war in the spirit at tender ages when they are the most open and hungry to learn the things of God. We have just a short window of opportunity to capture their hearts for the Kingdom of God, so we cannot wait for a more convenient day.
